This is a fascinating country of contradictions replete with symbolisms and a nation that is so versatile, not just linguistically and socially, that one visit will not suffice to get to know it. Hinduism, Buddhism and the river Ganges unite this impressive centuries' old country where the colonialist era left its mark but still contemporary elements occasionally prevail: busy Delhi is full with majestic monuments, Mumbai offers the remains of the Victorian reign, Jaipur and Taj Mahal are not to be missed in Agra.

This is such a multi-faceted country that can make even the most peculiar tourist happy. Whether you are a fan of hiking or a sea-lover, regardless of the time of year, India, its rivers, the ocean and mountain ranges will make a lasting impression. Choose amongst rice paddies, tea orchards, small mountainous settlements and
villages, the Himalayas, monasteries and coconut-tree lined beaches to practice sports, just paddle a boat, wander, go swimming or simply taste the experience. And do taste the cuisine which also varies depending on local produce used.

Families walk along Chowpatty Beach in Mumbai with children eating ice-cream or a corn cob at hand, while in Goa the remains of an era long bygone are still apparent and the sea blends harmoniously with the religious elements of Mahabalipuram. Try chicken in Amritsar, steamed momos in Sikkim, rice with curry and fish in Kerala, spicy
Chennai food and idli with coconut chutney on occasion. Before you head for the hip Mumbai bars settle for yogurt and then go for shots and cocktails with your party.

Our travel guide and advice will hopefully help you properly plan your trip to India.
